Why The Foundation School
History of providing intensive language-based education programs based on individual student’s needs since 1966.
Small student-to-staff ratio (2:1 average)
A strong emphasis on peer-to-peer interactions
Individualized planning and teaching focused on the needs of each student and maximizing opportunities for therapeutic and educational intervention.
Team approach, including daily interdisciplinary staff meetings with speech pathologists, special educators, occupational therapists, physical therapist and instructional support staff.
A goal for every student to generalize targeted skills and competencies across multiple environments.
Open communication between home and school. We encourage parents to share their expertise and provide timely information to school staff, which facilitates the generalization of skills and behaviors in multiple settings. By sharing students’ accomplishments with parents we can keep families apprised of progress and help them stay involved in their child’s education.
Community integration and transition planning for older students. Our program increases their opportunities to learn new skills, apply skills learned at school in new settings, develop an awareness of opportunities post high school, and help students and families plan for life beyond age 21.
Two campuses, allow students to learn and grow with their same-age peers and provides a physical setting appropriate for each age and developmental range.
